§ 16-13. Technology fee.

(a)

As authorized by article 102.0172 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, there is hereby created a municipal courts technology fund. Each defendant convicted of a misdemeanor offense in the municipal courts of record shall pay a technology fee stated for this provision in the city fee schedule as a cost of court, which fee shall be deposited in the city treasury to the credit of the fund. A person is considered "convicted" for purposes of this court cost fee under any of the circumstances provided in article 102.0172(b).

(b)

The fund created in subsection (a) shall be administered under the direction of city council and may only be used to finance the purchase and maintenance of technological enhancements for the municipal courts of record as more particularly provided in article 102.0172.
